Primary 2!
Welcome to Primary 2! We are looking forward to a busy and enjoyable term filled with learning, creativity, and fun.
Our class teacher is Mrs. Mead, and our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs. McLaughlin, Miss O’Brien, Ms. Farren, Ms. Flood, Mrs. Cooke, and Ms. Clarke.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club runs each morning from 8:30 a.m. and offers a selection of cereal, toast, and fruit juice (apple or orange). The cost is 60p per day.
Healthy Breaks
We encourage all children to bring a healthy break each day. This should include still, unflavoured water or milk and a portion of fresh fruit or vegetables.
Clothing and Outdoor Play
Please ensure your child brings a coat with a hood every day, as outdoor learning and play continue in all weather conditions.
Our Learning Topics
This term, our topics are Teddy Tales and Bear Adventures and Happy Harvest.
We will be learning about different types of bears, reading a variety of bear stories, and exploring the signs of autumn during our Autumn Walk.
Reading and Home Support
Parental support plays an important role in helping children become fluent, confident readers and enthusiastic learners. We encourage regular reading at home — even a short bedtime story makes a difference!
Children also benefit from plenty of opportunities to write, draw, and count in everyday situations.
Term Overview (October – December)
As we move through the autumn term, our learning will continue to be hands-on, creative, and engaging. In October, we will complete our topics on Happy Harvest and Halloween celebrating the changes we see in nature . During November and December, our focus will shift to finishing of Harvest and beginning Santa’s Post Office. Through these themes, children will explore seasonal changes, learn about the importance of sharing and giving, and take part in festive literacy and numeracy activities. We look forward to a busy and exciting few months of learning and celebration in P.2.
End of school day
School finishes at 2:30 p.m., and children will meet their parents on the playground at the end of the day.
We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by all the children in P.2 and look forward to another successful and enjoyable year ahead.
