This year’s KeyStage 1 Christmas show was “Donkey for Sale.” As usual, it was an outstanding success, with great performances from all the children. Mums, dads, grannies, grandas etc. really seemed to enjoy the show. It was a great production and the result of many weeks of preparation and practice. Well done to all the staff for their efforts. The show was a great advertisement for our school so congratulations to all. Thank you,  as well, to all the families who packed the hall and supported the children 100%. This is what makes our school so special.

I’m sure Santa has been looking in and would have been well pleased!

Advent

As a Catholic school we felt that along with Literacy and Numeracy etc., we should also strive to celebrate our faith amongst our families. To that end we have begun special activites for the duration of Advent.

Beginning the first week of Advent parents/friends are invited to a quiet reflection each morning at 9.05. Staff will also have the opportunity to avail of this reflection after 3 p.m.  This will continue for the first week in Advent.

Each class from p4 to p7 are also being asked to prepare some work, losely based around the 12 days of Christmas, but taking some letters of the alphabet each day as their starting point. For example … day 1 began with A for Angel and B for Baby. They will use this work during their weekly masses and their work will be placed in the Jesse Tree at the front of the altar. This will culminate with our whole school Mass on the 22nd Dec. when our P1 -3 classes will complete the Jesse Tree with their own contributions.

Parents are welcome at all these masses which begin at 9.30 a.m.

N.B. our whole school mass will be very crowded!

Congratulations to Mrs McDaid’s P5 class for winning an Excellence Award in the Irish Aid, Our World Awards. There were over 1900 projects from over 500 schools. So…what a great achievement! Hopefully, anyone who sees our DVD will be inspired to do something about the poverty that still exists in our world.

The children travelled to Dublin where they took part in a very slick awards ceremony. Thank you to Mrs Hegarty and Mrs Young who accompanied the children to Dublin.

The DVD can be borrowed from school and it is now available through our website by following the link in our Top Links Section. (Our World, Our Fault, Our Problem)

Congratulations to all the children but especially to Jessica, Caitlin, Serena, Emmet, Ethan and Caolan who were responsible for the DVD. Stephen Spielburg eat your heart out!
