Our prize-giving ceremony took place on Friday 25th. We were entertained by our orchestra and our school choir before the proceedings got under way. This year saw the first set of Academic awards with the specially commissioned school badges in English, Maths, I.C.T. and Endeavour. We also had special excellence badges for children who had had exceptional success during the year. In addition this was the first year we presented our St. Cecilia’s Award for Performing Arts.

Well done to all the prizewinners and for those who were not successful perhaps they will redouble their efforts next year.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as M&M productions brought their production of Charlotte’s Web to our school. All classes from P1 to P7 were enthralled by the performance, the P6s especially so, as this is their class novel.

School Canteen

We have recently changed over to Pennyburn Kitchen to supply our school dinners. The format of the dinners are a little different from before so it may take a bit of time for the children to get used to the choice options.

We will try to post the monthly rota for dinners each month on this site, but that is proving difficult at present. We will send the rota home by hardcopy or through email to those parents who have given us their address.

Sio far we are very happy with the quality and quantity of the dinners. Each day should have a choice of 2 dinners or soup and sandwiches,  with all the trimmings and a desert.

Please let us know yur opinions on the meals. You can see a sample of some of the dinners so far in the gallery. I’m starving just looking at them!

Grandparents’ Day

Was there ever a day that didn’t turn out quite as you expected? Well Grandparents’ Day was one of those days. But not in a bad way.

Firstly we had planned a mass for Key Stage 2 and an assembly for Key Stage 1. We honestly expected @ 20 to 30 Grandparents. Boy were we wrong as over 200 swarmed the school. Some came very long distances just to be here. The atmosphere in the school was so cosy and relaxed. It was just wonderful.

Poor Miss Harkin was run off her feet making tea but she managed brilliantly.

Some of the grandparents visited the classes and shared their experiences with the children. And, of course, the children were bursting to show off their classrooms and “their wee world” to all the grannies and grandfathers.

Let’s have more days like this! Next time we’ll be ready!

Muchbox Challenge

Our school continues to promote healthy choices for lunches and snacks. Generally our lunchboxes are exceptionally good and a great improvement on years gone by. Our children now seem to prefer healthy options as a matter of taste as well as because they know that it is good for them.

Any parent needing advice on providing a healthy lunchbox can obtain help by contacting any member of staff who will pass on the relevant information to you.

Well done parents!
